📖 What could be better than finally holding tha 📖
What could be better than finally holding that longed-for book in your hands? Well, the fact that a dear friend went through the trouble to buy it for you – and then delivered it in person is hard to beat! 🤍

So looking forward to reading 𝑳𝒚𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒗 by Gabriel Francke Rodau (The Book Affair). Although expectations are high after 𝑳𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒌, I know I won’t be disappointed, as the key ingredients lining up for the red thread are related – and happen to be some of my favourites in a novel; family secrets, cultural heritage, identity (in this case Jewish) and a historical backdrop with personal experiences and fates. And yes… the story roots in WW2. Shabbat Shalom, dear ones!

The beautiful cover is by Nina Ulmaja ✨

Hello June… Month of graduations and expectation Hello June…
Month of graduations and expectations!

The nostalgy of childhood summers hits you hard this time of year, probably distorted (glorified?) by the passing of time. Sugarcoated or not, these memories are a continuous source of joy and comfort. At least they are to me.

June is children in their best dresses and shirts, singing traditional songs on the last day of school, led by concentrated (and exhausted) teachers, under the intent gaze of the parents, who are unable to define whether their emotional smiles and distant, teary eyes come from pride over their offsprings or from the memory of the child version of themselves singing the same songs.

June is all about making ambitious plans for the seemingly eternal summer months that lie ahead. Blank. Untouched. It’s blooming lilacs in exuberant gardens, wild strawberries on a grass straw, throwing away your shoes until school starts again, crab fishing, dips in the still ice-cold sea just because…

Below is an excerpt from the lyrics in ’Idas visa’, from Astrid Lindgren’s story about Emil. Because every child deserves summers as those described by Astrid in her books. ❤️

If you read –and loved– ’Wintering’ by Katherine May, you will revel in her new book ’Enchantment’ (@faberbooks ) just as much.

Not only do I find comfort and reassurance in
May’s storytelling, she is also brilliant with words, which makes it such a joy to indulge in her writing:

Good days can be good in many different ways, but a bulletproof one in my case involves quality coffee, catching up with a friend – and a good read to wind down after a few hectic days.

The latest 𝑶𝒉 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓 issue just arrived and was the perfect companion! It included some interesting as well as entertaining content, as usual, and a pleasant surprise: an article written by my very talented and lovely IG friend Lucy (@the_litedit )! 👏🏻👏🏻
